TP-Link’s basic free HomeShield tier offers network scanning, QoS (Quality of Service) for device prioritization, and basic parental controls so you can filter and blacklist websites. I’m a fan of TP-Link’s Tether app, where you can review traffic, split bands, create a guest network, schedule reboots, set automatic updates, and even tell the LED to turn off at night. It has four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, a single Gigabit WAN port, and a USB 3.0 port on the back, which is enough for most people.

I tested all of these in a busy family home full of Netflix-addicted gamers. Most people can get by just fine with a single Wi-Fi router, and I've collected recommendations to suit different needs, spaces, and budgets. Benefits will extend to everything from streaming movies and online gaming to video calls. There are various ways to improve your Wi-Fi, but few are as effective as upgrading your router. It has a range of over 100ft easily but closer connections can see speeds maxing out at 1300Mbps which is crazy fast for something on this price range.The humble Wi-Fi router has become an essential fixture in every home, but the one your internet service provider (ISP) sent is likely the reason your Wi-Fi sucks. The TP is dual band as well, but the thing that stands out is speed.
So hardware wise this is a very nice option.

The TP app allows for some of the fastest setups on this list which I definitely enjoy. But, if interior design isn’t high on your list then this shouldn’t be a worry. This means it doesn’t blend into a room as some of the darker cased options, and wall mounting or laying flat is a no-go for this router. It boasts a shiny white casing complete with a stand for it to lean against. It isn’t as easy to hide as some of the other options on this list.
To start with the negative, the real drawbacks are mostly physical. So it is one of the pricier options, but still perfect for that crisp Benjamin you’ve had stored away. Right now its sitting at the mid $90 range. The penultimate option on this list is the formidable TP-Link AC1900.
